Cody Mayer was elected to the Marquette City Commission in November 2020 and was elected Mayor Pro-Tem in November 2021, and elected Mayor of Marquette in November 2022.

Cody is the first Tribal member to be elected to the City Commission and the youngest Mayor in the history of Marquette. Cody was raised in Sault Ste Marie and is a member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

Beyond his time on the City Commission, Cody previously served as the Vice-Chair of the Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. Cody also serves as an enlisted soldier in the Michigan Army National Guard since 2014, with the current rank of Sergeant. Before his current role as Tribal Liaison at Talon Metals, Cody was in the banking sector for several years.
